What is this?
The 2nd Annual Northeast Indiana (NEI) Mental Health Summit is an event focused on enhancing collaboration among private sector providers, government agencies, and first responders involved in mental health services. The summit aims to increase mental health awareness and improve overall wellness in the Northeast Indiana region.

A highlight of the summit is the keynote address by Kevin Hines, a renowned storyteller, bestselling author, global public speaker, and award-winning documentary filmmaker. Kevin's powerful story of survival and resilience stems from his experience in 2000 when he attempted to take his life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Miraculously, he survived, thanks in part to a sea lion that kept him afloat until the Coast Guard rescued him. Since then, Kevin has dedicated his life to sharing his journey of hope, healing, and recovery. He travels worldwide, teaching people about wellness, resilience, and the ability to overcome pain.

The summit offers a unique opportunity for professionals in the mental health field to connect, learn, and collaborate on strategies to enhance mental health services in the region.

Listen to Kevin's story. His story is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and a reminder for us to love the life we have. Two years after he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 19, he attempted to take his own life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. He is now one of only 36 people who've survived that 2200-foot jump. His story is now the only evidence based story of a suicide attempt survived.
